Audience Response

The Ward Studio invites audience members to email us with your personal reviews to be included here on our blog page. Here's what some audience members have already said in their emails to us:

"It was superb! I can't even say how beautiful, nuanced, and powerful the show was. The actors are amazing, and the direction is inspired. Visually, physically, emotionally, it was so lovely. The show stayed with me after I left the studio, and I keep thinking about it. I want to mention specific moments and ideas that affected me, but there were just so many, and it seems unjust to mention individuals because the whole ensemble was so accomplished." Paul Batsel, Floaters

"When I walked into the theatre, I tried hard to imagine how this group could successfully put on a show in such a small space. After seeing it, I realized that it was the perfect room for the content of the show; so close and intimate, it made you feel like a fly on the wall. The actors were great and the storyline had me thinking long after I left the show. It is a wonderful production, and I would recommend it highly. I can’t wait to see what they do next!"
Lana, January 2007

"One of the best shows I've seen in ages... The whole thing was a real masterpiece." Vicki Hirsch, Kings County Shakespeare

"Wow... the play is amazing, the acting is stellar" Amy Lennard, Singer/songwriter, Manhattan

"I Wish You A Boat was one of the most stirring nights of theater in my life." Sara Lerch, Actress, Manhattan

"One of the best shows I’ve seen in ages; extraordinarily original, wonderful acting, direction and design." June Stein, originated roles in John Patrick Shanley's plays, currently of Columbia's Grad Film School

"... a theatrical gem... beautiful and unforgettable." Janet Johnson, CT

I was amazed by how much "big show" energy was coming out of the modest space. From the solid ensemble to the innovative staging, this is a rare find.

The show combines a creative and effective surrealist quality with an authentic and powerful realist quality in order to provide a piece of theater that touched me in a way in which no other art I've seen has.
